LIBERIA – When little Lucy arrived at the weeklong medical clinic in her community, she was suffering from a severe case of malaria and without treatment may not have survived. But when physicians realized she would need a blood transfusion, she was raced to the nearest hospital and admitted for urgent treatment.
Today, little Lucy is thriving once more—full of energy and playing with her little sister. Please take a moment today, on World Malaria Day, to pray for children like Lucy all around the world. JAKARTA, Indonesia – It may only be a small 9×9 room, but it holds some pretty big dreams.
Though this one-room classroom is surrounded by trash piles and poverty, the children don’t seem to mind. For them, it is a place of hope and learning—and a refuge from their life on the streets.
Many of the students, ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old, have never attended school before and cannot read or write. Their days have been spent on the streets scavenging for food, performing as street minstrels, and begging for money to help their families survive hunger and poverty.
