HONDURAS – Lourdes had no idea how she would provide for her five children after her husband tragically passed away last fall.
Unable to read or write, she struggled to find a job that would allow her to also care for her children, from 12-year-old Belkin all the way down to little Rirsi, who is only three. (more…)

KENYA – Little Lekini’s name means “small and weak.” And it was a fitting name.
Abandoned by his mother at a tender age, Lekini never received proper nutrition or care. At the age of three, he was severely emaciated, weighing only 17 pounds. (more…)

CHINCHA & HUAYCAN, Peru – This year OB Peru held a special Christmas program to benefit impoverished children. With the help of volunteers from a local church, Operation Blessing provided more than 1,500 children with a Christmas breakfast, a show, food baskets for their families, and even special Christmas gifts. NORTH CAROLINA – A couple of days ago I heard on the radio that more hugs are delivered during the Christmas season then any other time of the year and I thought to myself, what message does a hug say? Verbally it may say nothing, however, when there’s an embrace and when there’s an outreach to others, it gives the message of great value. (more…)

SARANDO, Niger – Eight mouths is a lot to feed even in the United States, and it is even harder in a country that has recently faced famine and is bracing for it again following a “rainy season” that was anything but rainy.
On special occasions or holidays like Thanksgiving, my wife and I might make a meal to feed eight people, but eight mouths is what Saley has to feed every day. (more…)

Operation Blessing staff Lara Coleman shares the latest on OBI’s relief and development projects in Haiti.
MEDAN BELIZE, Haiti – Today we brought our water truck and another vehicle filled with food down the treacherous road towards Lake Azuei. We were able to deliver 4,000 gallons of clean water and nearly 1.5 tons of food to the 45 families living in the village Medan Belize. (more…)

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – It’s 4:30 a.m. when Leroy’s alarm goes off, and he soon sets out to collect donations for the 13 senior citizen homes where he distributes food.
For the last 20 years, Leroy has faithfully been serving the less fortunate in his community—one might think that it was his full time job. But he just laughed when I posed that question to him. (more…)

KENYA – The famine that is gripping the Horn of Africa has been gaining attention in the world media with much of the focus being on the Somali refugees pouring over the border to Kenya in search of food.

HONDURAS – Denis and his wife, Mirna, were waiting for us to arrive so that they could prepare pastelitos (patties made of wheat flour). As soon as we got to their house, Mirna began filling the pastelitos with different things such as beans, corn, rice and potatoes. (more…)
