Food for Americans in need

Volunteers with Operation Blessing distribute food to Americans in need.

About the blogger: Julia is part of a team of young adults from Focus One who have joined OBI for a week-long trip to California to serve the homeless, hungry and impoverished.

CHINA, Calif. – Today our Focus One group served at a food distribution in Chino. We bagged everything from bread and pastries to canned goods and toiletries. Twice a week, people in need can come here to receive food and shop at a mini thrift store—buying anything from shoes to baby clothes at amazing prices!

When the food distribution began, our team saw so many beautiful, smiling faces! The attendees were so grateful and all interested in getting to know us. As everything wrapped up, a lady named Bridgette walked up to the line without a bag, box or anything to carry the food in.

Since her arms were already full, I grabbed a big empty box and helped her through the line. As we walked to her car, Bridgette shared that she had lost her job and house recently, and she has four grown sons living with her who are all struggling to find jobs.

Bridgette was amazed at the nutritious food she was bringing home to her four “football” boys.
