PORT-AU-PRINCE – We’re in! After a struggle to reach Port-au-Prince, Tony, our video producer, and I were finally able to get two seats on a plane from the Dominican Republic. It was a tiny “4-seater” and was so full of relief gear that it tipped back on its tail before we took off. (more…)

Santo Domingo – I’m in the Dominican Republic and exhausted after another night of travel and little sleep. Aid workers and news crews have been pouring in from all over the world and the airport has been a mad house of teams trying to fly into Port-au-Prince as soon as they can. (more…)

ATLANTA – Team Depot is back in the disaster zone with Operation Blessing.
Like a sports team ready to take the field to win the game, dozens of orange-shirted volunteers from The Home Depot Headquarters in Atlanta huddled up on a Friday morning with Operation Blessing staff, ready to tackle the day’s tasks.

PADANG, Indonesia – Lenny was in the kitchen of her restaurant the day the ground shook.
“The building began to shake. At first, I thought it was an airplane that had crashed nearby. And then, in a matter of seconds, my kitchen was on fire,” she said.

Today at Colleen’s house, we finished all of the exterior tasks. We finished painting the trim and touching up paint at the house. We finished all the yard work, including the back path leading from the house to the back yard made out of stone. We also spray painted the chain link fence. (more…)
