World Malaria Day

More than 600,000 deaths result from malaria in a single year.

LIBERIA – When little Lucy arrived at the weeklong medical clinic in her community, she was suffering from a severe case of malaria and without treatment may not have survived. But when physicians realized she would need a blood transfusion, she was raced to the nearest hospital and admitted for urgent treatment.

Today, little Lucy is thriving once more—full of energy and playing with her little sister. Please take a moment today, on World Malaria Day, to pray for children like Lucy all around the world. Bullied and abused: Aura’s story

Aura received the corrective surgery she needed.

ALTA VERAPAZ, Guatemala – For the last five years, Aura has endured teasing, bullying and hurtful words from her classmates—all because she was born with a lip malformation.

Medical clinic aids young father after 20-foot fall

Alcides was brought to an Operation Blessing medical clinic after suffering severe injuries.

EL SALVADOR – To provide for his family, Alcides, a father of 2 young boys, was working odd jobs at a farm near his home in El Salvador.

Restoring sight

Steven, 8, of El Salvador battled a year-long eye infection that could have cost him his sight.

EL SALVADOR – Every day for a year, 8-year-old Steven endured painful, red eyes.

“It felt [like] sand got into my eyes,” Steven said. “From that day on they hurt and I couldn’t open them the whole way.”

Aid for Syrian refugees

Battling malaria in Niger

MOLI, Niger – In the small village of Moli, Niger, a country where malaria is endemic, lives Chafa and her 9-month-old daughter, Aichatou. Their village is blessed to be situated alongside a river where they can fish, bathe, wash clothes, have rice fields, and irrigate their gardens. But this branch of the river gets cutoff from its main source during the dry season, causing the water to stand stagnate—becoming the perfect breeding ground for malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
