PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – At two years old, most children are sleeping through the night, talking, and playing happily with others. But not little Waylee.

The two-year-old has suffered from an umbilical hernia since birth—a condition that has kept her from sleeping well at night and prevented her from playing actively with her siblings. Continue reading Healing Waylee

Haitians wade through floodwaters.

Water distribution aids Isaac victims in Haiti

Operation Blessing's water truck delivers clean water to residents.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti-Our water truck is out making deliveries to camps in Port-au-Prince. I caught up with them at Camp Mega 7 (next to Villa Betame). Camp Mega 7 has 4,000 residents and was in serious need of deliveries. The local municipal water supply isn’t working and even if it was, the water isn’t safe–especially after a storm like Isaac. By distributing treated water and educating communities we hope to prevent more deaths from cholera. Continue reading Water distribution aids Isaac victims in Haiti

Disaster Alert: Preparing for Hurricane Isaac

HAITI – As Isaac threatens to hit Haiti this Friday as a Category 1 hurricane, Operation Blessing teams are staging preparations in both Haiti and the U.S. to brace for the storm’s impact.

Our greatest concern right now is the storm’s immediate projected path, taking it right across Haiti. If the storm strengthens to a hurricane as forecasted, it could shred the meager shelters of hundreds of thousands of Haitians who are still camped in tent cities, as well as flood the low-lying areas where the tent cities are located.
