Bill Horan

Bill Horan, who currently resides in Virginia Beach, is the chief operating officer and OBI president. Under his direction, OBI has become one of the top 100 nonprofits in the country and a multi-million-dollar-a-year humanitarian organization.
Being in the field is where Horan thrives. He uses his expertise to help break the logistical log jams to bring fast relief to those who need it most.

Recently, Horan traveled to the devastated regions of the southern U.S. to assess relief needs and aid victims of tornadoes as well as helped launch an anti-parasite campaign with the First Lady of Honduras, expanding the program to treat more than 5 million school-aged children every six months throughout Latin America.

In response to recent flood disasters in Ecuador, Bangladesh and Mexico, Horan also helped direct a partnership with global delivery service DHL to provide free shipping of water purification systems to supply flood victims with clean drinking water.

Horan has traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe and Africa, having cultivated business relationships in all 50 U.S. states and 33 foreign countries. He was raised in both Guilford, Connecticut, and Northville, Michigan, and graduated from Augusta Military Academy in Virginia. Previously, Horan was the founder of Michigan Aggregate Machinery, an international company that has been an industry leader in used aggregate machinery. Horan is also an avid fisherman and is past-president of the Cayman Islands Angling Club. He and his wife Laura have two grown daughters.

In 2007, Horan was named to ‘The NonProfit Times’ list of “Power & Influence Top 50,” recognizing OBI as one of the top Hurricane Katrina relief agencies whose timely relief efforts earned them the slogan, “doing the Lord’s work…this afternoon.”

Donations to OBI are used in support of humanitarian relief and community development programs in
the United States and worldwide. They are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
